Description
This 1:32 scale brass and nickel-silver GWR 0-6-0PT engine number 8700 in the short-lived original 1938 condition was painted & lightly weathered by John Jarvis. The GWR Milk Van was built by David Baker, whilst the batteries & Peter Spoerer TX-20 radio control gear has been fitted by Peter Alliott. The locomotive has Mark Wood wheels and has been tested on 12ft.radius pointwork.
The prototype was designed for hauling meat vans on the underground route from Paddington to Smithfield Market. However, the feedwater tanks were found to hold insufficient water (the pannier tanks were shortened to accommodate the air pump) & this class prototype returned to Works for re-building with the larger/deeper tanks.
