This 4mm. scale kit-built BR(M) Class 4P 4-4-0 tender locomotive fleet number 41162 in weathered fully lined black livery with early crest is built from a whitemetal kit The model has a 2A Rugby Shed Plate and prototypically, was allocated there in 1959. The model is in good running order with an open frame motor/gearbox driving Romford wheelsets. The whitemetal tender has real coal, unsprung brass buffers and a fixed coupling hook. The tender wheelsets are scale plastic with the flanges to the centre wheels removed. The locomotive has a fixed screw coupling, un-sprung brass buffers and lamp brackets. The locomotive has vacuum pipework. The cab has glazed windows and a fixed floor plate covering the coupling between engine and tender. There is no backhead to the firebox, the “lower handrail holes” to the off-side smokebox have not been filled prior to painting, and the steps to the nearside running plate need some repair. With a little touching-in to the paintwork, this model could be very characterful.
