Description
This 7mm. scale GWR Dia.G28 “Bowcar A” Bogie Road Vehicle Body Carrier fleet number 70738 in weathered light grey livery was scratchbuilt and painted by Peter Callon to Terry Smith request. The model is fitted with “Haywood Railway” wheels running in “Connoisseur” white metal plateframe bogies. Large head buffers and Swivel coupling hooks are fitted The prototype vehicles were converted in 1927 from Macaw E Dia.J24 Flats and the train formation became known locally as “The Morris Cowley” transporting bodies from Oxford to Coventry where they were fitted to chassis and engines. The trains left Cowley every weekday at approximately midday. Interestingly, the wagons were reconverted to Dia.J24 Flats during WW2.
